First Time Spa Goers
If this is your first time going to a spa don't be nervous. It is common to think about the changing routine and what should you leave on during a treatment. This is a common question and if in doubt you can always ask your spa hostess! However, most spas in the world have the same protocol and each spa will give you similar instructions as follows:
"Here is your changing area - please hang your clothes in here (closet) please take off all jewelry and place it in the jewelry box - please change into the paper underwear if you would like. When you are done changing please let me know and I will come back in the room."
If you are still wondering.. at this point if you should go nude? That is totally up to you! In the west going nude is the preferred method when getting a massage or body treatment. However, in the east most prefer to leave underwear on so in the end it is up to each guests prefrence. Be assured a standard rule is to drape the guest very privately by securing the towel in proper way so the guest always feels he/she can fully relax during their treatment.
Mobile Phones
Mobile phones should be placed on silent mode with no exceptions as a minimum if not turned off all together for your next hour of total relaxation. There is nothing worse then hearing a mobile phone if you are trying to relax during a spa treatment. Be curdious to others as you expect them to be for you.
How to enjoy your spa Treatment?
A spa treatment is supposed to be a calming, relaxing experience. So why do so many people arrive at 4:00 for a 4:00 treatment? You should be in the relaxation room sipping on a signature tea with shoes off! Especially in Bangkok most people arrive late, in a stressful state. This does nothing for your relaxation session you are about to experience. Get there at least 15 minutes early. A few other reminders....
1. Don't come on a full stomach - because you will be lying down for at least an hour.
2. Be sure to let your therapist know which kinds of pressure you prefer.
3. If you do not want to remove your clothing you should start with a Thai Massage for Foot Massage which can be truly enjoyable on your first spa journey!
